Man's Best Friend was formed in 2017 by ex serviceman and education sector worker Ross.
Ross has always had a passion for animals but especially dogs. After having a dog walker of his own, Ross decided he wanted to spend more time with his own dog so decided to set his own business up, he hasn't looked back! Within 6 months Ross needed more help so Claire joined him, even during all the lockdowns and uncertainty we have all faced Ross has continually adapted the business model to ensure the business survives. In June 2020 after the first lockdown Ross again needed more help so Tina joined us. In January 2024 after a long search Ross found Molly, Molly had worked as a veterinary nurse so was a great addition to the team.
The team now offer three group walks per day and three companion services for dogs that are left alone for too long for just a walk to suffice, but mainly for those working from home now. These dogs love having their owners at home all day but can't understand why they aren't playing with them all day! haha So the companion service allows you the time to get on with work knowing your dog is having a great time with their friends. This is by far the most popular service we provide and rarely has vacancies.
Ross' sidekick is Bosco the working Cocker who works with Ross helping train and set good standards for the other doggies. A favourite at Towerwood Vets, Amanda is happy to recommended us. We also recommend all of our clients to use Towerwood Vets.
We are canine first aid trained, DBS cleared and fully insured. We carry a first Aid kit for dogs in each vehicle.
Your dog will be picked up in a custom built van that was designed by Ross to provide the best possible care whilst travelling for the dogs. Custom rattle proof cages are very large, have padded floors for comfort, water bowls and fully lockable. A roof mounted electric fan will keep your dog cool at all times plus the dividing wall from cab to rear isn't metal, its a vented wall so the air conditioning from the cab will flow through, plus this allows inspection of the dogs at all times. The van also have the private licence plate R8O MBF. (Ross 1980 Mans Best Friend) Let out one by one your dogs walk will be videoed and photos added to their very own album on our Facebook page.
All new dogs begin with a two week trial, this will allow us to assess their suitability. Dogs should be treated as one of the family so their safety is our number one concern. They will not be allowed to join our pack if they don't bond with the others or we feel we cant keep them safe. These walks are fully trackable via GPS collars to ensure we keep your dog safe.

Ross joined the British Military after leaving college in 1997. He served his country for 12 years in places such as Germany, Poland, Austria, Italy, Oman, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Since leaving the Army, Ross worked in several schools around Leeds helping them improve areas which let down their OFSTED report. At the same time he also worked as a Manager for the largest outdoor fitness company in the UK for 10 years before leaving to spend more time with his new born daughter.
Ross is married to Jenny, has one son Ben and one daughter Millie
Claire joined the company within the first year of business due to rapid growth. Claire received a few months of training from Ross in order for her to work to the same high standards as Ross.
Claire is now our Development Manager. Claire has moved from group walks to head up the Companion Service as we have so many clients now working from home requiring this service.
Claire's clients speak very highly of her, she has many outstanding reviews should you wish your puppy to join.
Christina joined the company in July 2020 after more rapid growth. To start with Tina shadowed Ross to see how things are done within the company.
Again with rapid growth Tina joined Claire on the Companion service and now herself is fully booked.
In the past Tina has completed dog training courses with both Mic Martin and Richard Clarke from the BBC Dog Borstal series, and a behavioural course with Steve Mann.
Molly joined us in early 2024, getting in touch back in 2023 as she was excited to pursue her passion for animals, so wanted to see if there were any opportunities to join us.
Molly has a background in veterinary assistance and then joined the corporate world as a Lettings Manager for the past few years.
Molly brings a wealth of experience to the team and is dedicated to pursuing her love for our four legged pals.
Molly's dog Sully joins her companion service when there is space.
Millie has helped her Daddy with the dogs since she could walk.
She loves days out with Daddy in the van playing and chasing with all of our dogs.
Maybe when she is older, she will take over and Daddy can retire early!
